IP CCTV utilises the existing high bandwidth IP infrastructures with the cameras and recorders simply connecting directly onto this network. Utilising the Cat 5 cabling infrastructure the security cameras will connect into a standard data outlet. CCTV over IP offers much greater versatility and flexibility than traditional CCTV systems. Cameras can be plugged in wherever an Ethernet Point exists and some cameras are powered through the cabling from the switches. Stored recordings or live transmissions can be viewed from any authorised PC via a web page. Traditional CCTV systems using coaxial cable can be integrated into the IP system if required, protecting any investment and making it accessible across the network.

IP CCTV can be used to monitor indoors and outdoors on a day to day basis as well as out of hours. Reductions in vandalism, unauthorised entry and theft are all acknowledged benefits of an efficient CCTV installation.
